Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a prank. A silly frat boy dare.

One hot moment in a hidden storage closet. One kiss. No consequences.

But if you get that close to a man with fire in his eyes, you’re gonna get burned, and I was no exception. One taste of Grey Blackwood ruined me for life.

The way Grey sees it, I was the one who did the ruining. I humiliated him. Wrecked his life. Destroyed his future.

Doesn’t matter that he’s clawed his way back and then some. Doesn’t matter that he’s already top of the Wall Street food chain. The man’s ruthless. Heartless. And he likes his revenge served cold.

Now he’s taking down the companies owned by every frat boy who did him wrong. And when he comes for my family’s company, the quiet life I’ve built for myself far away from Manhattan comes crumbling down, too.

But when Grey’s standing in our boardroom, threatening a hostile takeover and demanding I negotiate on behalf of my family, I don’t see an enemy. I see the chance I’ve been waiting for.

The chance for another night in his arms, and hopefully a whole lot more.

Let the negotiations begin.

Hostile Takeover is a full-length, standalone novel.

Better than expected

I enjoy Lucy Lennox’s books. I’ve read them all. They can feel very samey samey. What set this book apart was the narration. It felt fresh and new. I really enjoyed the characters and the story.

The hostile takeover was awesome!

Lucy Lennox did it again. I always want more. The stories she weaves are just so fantastic!! Grey and Ellison have some sexy time, get caught, and don’t see each other for 15 years.

Among the corporate takeovers there is also: greed, hate, scheming, manipulation, misunderstandings, games, hot sexy times and finally love. Don’t miss this audiobook!!!!

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, nice flow. I was entertained by the story and enjoyed the banter between the characters. I liked that this was more about the development of the relationship and wasn't overloaded with unnecessary sexy times.

🎧 Narrator comment: Both Teddy Hamilton and Sean Cristen are excellent narrators and have both done a great job of Hostile Takeover. They suited the characters and captured the 'feel' of both characters similarly enough so the alternating POV chapters didn't feel disjointed (so for that they get 5 stars).
Personally though, I don't understand why a M/M story needs two narrators when either narrator is more than capable of bringing the story to life his his own. I get why an author/publisher would consider multiple narrators for M/F - but for M/M when you're using a narrator who can perform multiple character voices clearly, for me, it just doesn't need it and I would have preferred just one narrator.

3.5 STARS

So I must admit, I love Lucy’s books, but this particular one was just a little tricky for me to love. Enemies to lovers is not an easy genre in my opinion, the line between love and hate has to be breached in a believable manner, and that didn’t happen here, Gray’s complete hate and sudden turn in feelings gave me whiplash, it was so sudden I was just left gaping. Either way I tried to ignore that part, it was still enjoyable and funny, also hot and kinda sweet. Apart from this, I adore Marcel!

Very enthralling story!!

My first 4 stars lucy lennox book ever!

I always give a 5 stars to lucy and although the story was capturing and interesting as expected of one of my fav author it didn't bring me a satisfying ending *sigh*

Moreover, not having MICHEAL DEAN as the narrator was a blow because even though I am also a fan of Teddy and Sean was good too... It felt like the story wasn't brought to full life and I always had that niggling at the back of my back saying that Micheal Dean would have done MUCH better! ( plus I have a hard time connecting to a story with two narrators *cry*)

All that aside I really recommend this book as it really is Worth the credit! <3
